North Carolina Board Transitions the FE and FS Exams to CBT
CBT stands for computer-based testing and beginning in 2014, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) exams will be offered solely on computer in all 50 States. Traditional pencil-and-paper exams will be retired. CBT exams allow greater scheduling flexibility for candidates, provide more uniformity in testing conditions and ensures enhanced security for exam content.
The FE and FS exams will no longer be given on a specific day in April and October and instead beginning January 2nd 2014 will be given on a rolling basis at all Pearson Vue exam facilities. There are no longer application deadlines and candidates no longer register for the FE and FS exams through the North Carolina Board. Beginning November 4th eligible candidates go directly to the NCEES web site and register for their exam and choose a convenient date.
It is only upon passing the FE or FS exam that the applicant needs to make application with the North Carolina Board to become a Surveying or Engineering Intern.
